I've been with Nintendo since I was a kid, so I've got a Cube. I've really been wanting a PS2 as well...

We have have had a sega mastersystem, and still have a SNES and PS1. The one I like most is the PS1, because thats the one I play Final fantasy's 7,8 and 9 on.

Nice site Shaggy.
Most of it is about late consoles though, that I don't have, and probably never will. Some very interesting threads there, its bookmarked, but I won't join, just lurk occasionally. Think being a part of 4 forums is more than enough. I am already spending way, way too much time on the computer :D.

By late, I mean recent. Xbox and PS2 for example. I am more of a retro gamer, prefering older PC and console games. I am over 35, so have more experience playing on the Commodore64, NES, SNES, Atari etc.
That explains why the forum I spend most of my time on is Olgames.nu. They have a lot (thousands) of old PC and console games (as roms) available.

Retro is making a comeback, I am included there. Classic NES is where I stand... oh... but the SNES as well... crud. Gaming just rocks.

Retro is'nt making a comeback pollovivo, its already made a comeback:D.
Abandonware sites have had a lot of the old games, console and PC, on offer for at least 5 years (thats the oldest site I have heard of, may be others older).
Emulation has brought a lot of the old games back into people's reach as well. Being able to play NES, SNES, spectrum, C64, atari, sega etc games on the PC is keeping a lot of the old classic titles alive.
I still own a SNES console and about 15 cartridges, but they are in a box. A lot easier to play on the PC, and I have about 30 roms to choose from.
Not that I am slagging off new games and consoles though, not at all, I have played some (Legend of Zelda, ocarina of time come to mind) that I really enjoyed, but there is just something about the classics that newer games can't match.

I only go to 3 forums now. OG, Nationstates (RG is in my sig on both), and here.
Don't post at Lonaf anymore, got sick of all the teenage negativity and infighting there. Even a tribute thread for Christopher Reeve was turned into a brawl. That was the last straw for me. I'd rather post in places where the members have a mental age higher than 8 years:rolleyes:.

Its a shame about your Atari, I've heard similar stories from others about parents giving or throwing away their old games. Maybe the word should go out to all teens, that when they leave home, the first thing in their suitcase, is all old games, consoles and computers :D.

Thanks Arkacia for that link to oldgames.nu.....I used to own an Amiga 500 but it stopped working :mad: .....when i saw this site it made my day seeing some games i used to play. Although there were plenty of games I had that I couldnt find but I guess I just need to keep looking around. It took me a while to get the emulator working but once it worked it seemed ok. Certainly brought back memories.... its great to be able to go back to those old games that are still very enjoyable despite their age..... :)

Mick, the Amiga500 was a good old computer. I used to have one too, but like yours, it died and went to computer heaven. I am impressed you were able to get the emulator to work, I wrestled with it for days, before giving up in sheer frustration:D.
Not all the oldgames are available, some are'nt abandonware, and sites can't host them for download, others are just plain rare, and you really have to search to find them.

Shaggy, I would'nt worry about people leaving here for OG. The two sites are as different as chalk and cheese. Look at me, I came here from OG and never left ;):D.

It was Google.
I had googled, looking for more abandonware sites, and Random games came up on page 1 of the results. Had a look, but did'nt join up straight away. I put the site in my bookmarks and lurked for a week or so, but was finally pulled in by the number of games available :).

Never....this is actually the first games site I came to that I liked....Im fairly new to the internet as I didnt have a computer until just recently, so I'm still learning the ropes. I still havent played all the games on the site yet, but theres certainly some funny games out there.

Arkacia....If its any help I used the winfellow (Windows version) emulator that I downloaded from oldgames. It says you need a kickstart file but I used one I found in the dos version (Kick13.ROM) and it seems to work for some games. I'm still playing around with it to try and get other games working. I spent many hours in my youth playing on the Amiga, not just solo as I had a few good multiplayer games such as dynablasters which had an adaptor to plug in 2 more joysticks.
Anyway I'm glad to help you if you need more info....

Yeah, they are hard to keep up with... Unless it's a sequal to a popular game I would think it would be hard to keep up with all the games for all of the different game boxes.

I love the old games as well as the new ones. i have a NES and SNES that I play almost as much as my Xbox!:D its kinda amazing how good the old games are. Like kirbys dream land for example for the NES. For that console it just blew my mind. Its so high tech for a NES game.

Nintendo 64 rocks! Starfox was my favorite game. Zelda was pretty cool too, but it was just so much fun to dodge around people with my plane and trick them out.
