Who is your favourite painter?
Do you like contemporary art or "the Old Masters"

My favourites are Rembrandt, Goya, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, Salvador Dali
but from all of these here my favourite one is Rembrandt

I don't know a lot about art, and tend to judge it purely on whether I like the painting or not. There is a lot of it (modernish mostly) I either don't like or can't see any sense in. Picasso for instance, I just can't see anything in his works worth the money people pay out for it.

I do tend to like the old masters over the newer stuff. As a history buff, I can see a lot of history in the old paintings. They can make it easier to "see" (for want of a better word) how people lived and interacted in the past. I also like the more realistic styles they used back then. Humans actually look like humans and not cartoon characters.

You should check Picasso's blue phase... I think it offers incredible works and it also shows his creative skills. Indeed, some may not like cubism and his later works but it is true that he's good. I was lucky to see some of his artwork, like preskecthings for Guernica.

I like Leonardo Da Vinci, for his art as much as for his ideas for inventions. Did you know he was the first to come up with an idea for a flying device?

Not only for a flying device but also for many other things, especially war machines. He even created some sort of ancient tank. :) Indeed he was a genius. But very often he was preocupied and that is the reason why many of his paintings weren't completed. Also, one od his most famous paintings "The Last Supper" has many flaws because Leonardo wasn't expert in fresco painting, restores had many problem while they were working on it. It took more than 25 years to restore it, I think.

i like all art that isn't too abstract. I really like flowers and the such so O'Keife would be on that list of favorites.
