On another site they have a thread going about the new Pope and how several different prophecies have stated that he's the last or second last Pope Rome will have.

Apparently

Nostradamus- click for info (http://nostradamus.freehomepages.com/prophecies_on_popes.htm)

Malachy -click for info (http://www.newagedirectory.com/pro/malachy.htm)

and the Mayan prophacies - click here for info (http://www.crystalinks.com/may.html)

all say the same thing. That the end of the world is close (2012 according to the Maya calander) and the end of the Vatican is in sight. To add to this we have the

Christian last days prophecies - click for info (http://www.harpazo.net/101/List.html)

Now personally I find all this very hard to believe and really aren't losing any sleep over it. The sites I found and others on the same subjects are good for a read but I don't think they're true. More likely just a lovely set of coincidences that happened to mesh together around the same time or what was assumed, translated etc to be the same time.

Just wondering what others think of all this. Do you believe the end of the world is in sight?

Nope, the world ain't gonna end anytime soon... unless nostradamus predicted nuclear war breaking out... that I could understand...

Honestly though, last time I heard, benedict is a very traitor-ish term (Benedict Arnold, US, Treason)... well, just a random thought...

and thius subject, i have to qoute some statisitcs: numbe roof known and recorded prophecies we have from over 1000 years ago: over a million.
a lot of them predict the end of thew world sometime around here, due to religious beliefs. Remember, christians believe that jesus will come bacxk afetr two thousand years.
they got that belief from previous religions that believed soimwething would happen in this time period.
howveer, most of them predict the end at soem time in the past or way int eh furture, and soem predict the end of thwe world several times. at different periods of time.
not those prophecies you haver there, but others not include dthere.
actually, i remember one famous one that predicts the death of thwe world about every seventy one years. soemthign to do with a comet that history teahcers now believe to be haley's comet. vcould very welll be soemthing like that . . .
rememebr, the superstition of thriteen goes back to even befoire the romansd . .. (heck, an old roman soldier would even have understood if you flipped him off!)
are you gettign what i;m gettign at here?
the somethignth cycle of soemthignb was probably goping to happen aroudn this time.
and therefore, doom or at leats soemthign was poredicted.

End of the world prophecies are constant and obnoxious; you really can't move into a new election or year without some group stating that the world will end.

As far as the Pop goes; I think that Pope Benedict the XVI (formerly Cardinal Ratzinger) will lead long and well, and I really can't see the Roman Catholic Church collapsing after his reign. There are too many of us devout Catholics left to let the Church die.

I don't think the end of the world is coming soon, sure our biggest threat is a worldwide nuclear war, but some people would survive even that. I think a lot of those prophecies are quite vague and it depends on how you interpret them.

I seem to remember a while back....I think it was around early 2000... people were talking about the end of the world coming on a certain date. It was even talked about on the radio and TV but we are still here now so it was obviously false

As for the Pope....he will probably rule for the rest of his life but how long has he got? He is quite old already and may not live long, I don't mean to be negative, just being realistic.... I do wish him a long and happy life as the Pope:)

He was never a Nazi. He was a member of the Hitler youth but so were most of the children in Germany at that time. He was only 18 at the end of the war.

Not every German of that time was a member of the Nazi party and not all of those that were members believed in the politics of the party. A lot of jobs etc were only available to party members and some joined just to have the chance to work.

I don't think the end of the world is coming soon

As Georgo Carlin said (i will get the exact quote later its kinda funny too) The world or earth ain't going anywhere its us that are in trouble. We are all going to die one day the earth is just going to shake us off like a bad case of fleas.

I think a lot of those prophecies are quite vague and it depends on how you interpret them.
That right these prophecies are very very very vague. These people that predict the second coming of christ and all that stuff are outta their minds. For starters the book of Revelations is not to be taken seriously and there are idiots out there, that call themselves experts, that seem to think they can interpert the book of Revelations. Its just written in a futuristic sense to give Christians an idea of what will happen on the Second Coming. This is also not predictable so people need to stop trying to think they know what God is up to. There is no nothing anyone can do to prepare themselves for this.
Also Nostradamus predictions and what he said can be molded to fit just about any tragic event that has happened. I think Nostradamus is just some guy that just got lucky on somethings that he said. Also i think he might have been smoking too much pot or not enough.

Now personally I find all this very hard to believe and really aren't losing any sleep over it.

I'm with you too I'm not losing sleep over this stuff

that new pope is a nazi man i dont care what they say when he changed its crap he too old also

Honestly...those are some of the worst reasons ever

Arkacia already cleared up the Nazi thing

And as for the fact about age...give me a break. I've always believed that the older you are, the wiser you are, and Ratzinger/Benedict will prove that to us all
