I can't stand the band The Darkness, they look like something from the 70's and the way their lead singer hits those screeching high notes he sounds awful and because he thinks it's good, he does it a lot. It reminds me of a cat when someone steps on it's tail

As for worst singer ever, it has got to be the finnish "artist" M.A. Numminen. His singing sounds like a cat being dragged through a meat grinder. And I'm not sh*tting you.

Anywho, if I have to name someone internationally known, I'd say either that guy from The Darkness or Robbie Williams. They just get on my nerves.

Alternative Rock is merely a classification for anything other than hard rock, which is the typical definition. Metallica is Rock, Taking Back Sunday is Alternative Rock. The genre is so broad it is hard to define every type of music in it.

"attract the emos" refers to the how some bands call themselves alternsative in order to appeal to an audience of poeple who think suicide is a joke and want to kill themsleves, only not seriously, but because they think its cool. emos, in other words.
emo branches forkm the word emotional, afetr the genre of music, emotional, emos and emotional music don;t have that great a connectiopn, but emos and goths do. and goths and emotional do.
to clearly define what seems to be the oponion of the masses:
goth: poerson who actually weants suicide, and takes it seriously, or has gone thorugh enough bad thigns and been traumatized by them to "deserve" to eb that emotional, or a loner with a grim, but deep, literary sense.
emos: people who think bering a goth means dressing in black and worshipping the devil, people who take suicide as a joke(and of couirse don;t realize it), basically imitation goths.
oh, and most peope, i know calssify metallica as "metal" rather then rock. rock is generally taken, afaik, to be much softer then metallica, such as the beatles, GS, liek amix of skiffle and country, metal is generally taken to eb m,ore complictaed, louder, usually a quicker beat.

Yeah, I understand how Rock is classified as softer than Metal, but I've always considered them to be one-in-the-same. As far as Emo goes...I consider myself to be very open-minded about music (not very open-minded about other things however) and actually enjoy some Emo. That's just me though

one of the thigns that really amnnoys me about music is the terminology:
everybody uses a different set of it.
you8 ask one person for rock, and they lead you to horrible bands that sound too loud when muted.
other swwill point you toqwards country or skiffle,
others will ask what you consider rock. those are the wise ones.
I am vcery open minded anout music also, but I absoluty hate bands and artists that have to sell the bodies of young women in order to be popular. music hasd to be pretty horrible to need popularity like that. oh, and rap. what properly thuinkign person cannot hate english rap? (english = american, canadian, english as in language rrater then referring to british) all it talks about is sex, drugs, and idiocy like that. it has horrible beats, unoriginal and uncreative lyrics and basic music, if it has any.
not all rap is liek that, i suppose, but i haven;t heard any english rap unlike that so far.

Actually, underground rap is truly amazing. I do agree that common (most often referred to as Gangsta) rap can be absolutely terrible, but you cannot condemn the entire genre because of what the masses (lovingly referred to as "the idiots" by General Patton) listen to. Freakums, if you download music I seriously suggest that you look into Aesop Rock, Talib Kweli, and Mos-Def. These are some amazing underground rappers who I enjoy very much. I also suggest the song "Bent Life" by Aesop, this song alone may very well change your opinions on the genre, Freakums.

Umm... I usually don't like rap, but I do like eminem. Call me crazy, if you must, but at least he isnt doing the same ole played jargon the other rappers are putting out there. In my opinion, the Wiggles and Doodle Bops are the worst, but maybe thats cause my daughter is forever watching them. :rolleyes:

The Wiggles are the darlings of the young children but a parents worst nightmare. When us Aussies heard they were trying to make it big in the US we cheered. Problem was, they didn't stay over there and came back :D.

I'm going to add that annoying crazy frog to the list. It started out as a mobile phone ring tone, but now the little menace has CDs and video clips out. If you don't know what I am talking about.....
