View Full Version : Alien Existance

Do any of you believe in the existance of aliens?

To start it off... I for one do. I mean there are trillions of stars in the known universe and each one has the capability for a solar system. Who's to say that there isn't another planet like ours somewhere out there? I doesn't neccesarily have to be intelligent life either... sorta like a paramecium even. Or life more advanced than ours...

i do, but i think that if they're going to visit earth, they would have done by now in the however millions of years that it's existed

There of course is a chance because that would be such a waste of space if there weren't at least one other kind of life form on another planet.

Well, there are billions of stars in the sky, and some of those stars have solar systems, and some of those solar systems must have planets capable of sustaining life. The question is, what kind of life.

I do believe there is life on other worlds, but don't believe that space travelling aliens use earth as a truckstop, or abduct people.

I have little doubt there is alien life in this galaxy, or at least, certainly the universe, but I have grave doubts we have actually ever been visited by any of these alien races. All this talk of rectal probing says more about us than any alien race  Place to avoid if you ask me ;)

It seems fairly obvious that there are no advanced sentiant life forms near Earth at least... I mean, we have be radiating electromaget energy since the invent of radio, an ever increase sphere moving out from the Earth which surely could have been detected... we scan the frequences looking for signs so it's a fair assumption that others do the same.

And ask themselves, what, why, where and how.

Cheers,

Eric

there has to be other beings of some kind out there because there is no way that we r the only ones to be in this great unexplored universe

I dont think there are aliens. We dont have any proof. You would think we would know by now with all of the technology.

Not necessarily, even all the technology we have now is only just, within the last few years, starting to find, what scientists think are large gas giant planets orbiting other stars. The distances involved are beyond even the most sophistcated of our current tech level.

Planets are very hard to see. They don't shine like stars, and with the extreme distances of even our suns closest neighbours, any planets orbiting other stars would be well and truely outshon, and hidden. Its also likely that the vast majority of them would be unable to support any life as we know it, so the chances of us stumbling onto a planet that is in any way capable of supporting any form of life is extremely small.

There is growing speculation that Mars, and one moon each from Saturn and Jupiter (can't remember their names off hand) may have very simple forms of life present. There is also a theory that one of the moons has liquid water underneath its thick covering of ice.

There is still a great deal about the universe we don't know, and our current tech level is'nt up to giving us all the answers.

Well If more money was put into technology instead of warfare and egocentric politicians... maybe we'd be a lot more advanced than we are now :D

I think it is possible for there to be other life forms out in the universe.
It is very possible.

Well, I doubt we have been visited by Aliens here on earth. But I am certain there are other life forms on different planets. Like bugs, worms, bactirea, and so on. There has got to be!

I think there is definately life out there. The universe is so big there must be something else. Even if it is only simple lifeforms like bacteria or fungus. I do think there is a good chance that more intelligent beings are out there, but I do think they are so far away that they haven't found us yet and we can't see them. The other possibility is that the aliens are watching us but don't want to be publically known.

Just think, while they are an unknown thing on this planet they can study us at their leisure. Because of the stupidity of the human race we seem to look at our neighbours (other countries) as a threat, why else would nations of the world have an army. So obviously if the aliens were to become obvious and and known to mankind we would probably unite against a common enemy and try and fight it.

I think humans will meet them one day but probably not in our lifetime

If there isn't some other form of life out there, then come the death of the Earth, the Universe is screwed... :D

Yeah... there's probably both more and less advanced life out there, maybe one day we'll find something ;)

the universe is infinite there has to be some kind of other life out there that is different or the same as us from another planet

if they were smart then why would they be randomly abducting people, disecting them, putting them back on earth and leaving. this has apparently going on for 100s of years, surely they must have figured us out by now? and anyway, if they were smart enough to have ships that can do that kind of stuff, then surely they should be able to just hop off their ships and talk to us.
its not that i dont believe in them, i just dont think theyve found us yet.aftera ll theres like A BLLION different solar systems out there...

I think it silly to believe we are the only lifeform in the whole universe, I think most of the people here agree with that. I'm not sure if we had contats with alien species in the recent of far past, we all know everything about Rosewell and those films of disecting aliens... but still there is no evidence that is real and many people are sceptic about those . And I think we won't have an answer for a while. That kind of contact was possible, homo sapiens exists for about 100 000 yrs old (correct me if I'm wrong, plz) and that's a very long time...

i am certain that there is life on other planets i think there might even be life in our solar system has anyone heared about the moon that has ice on it i forget what its called but its one from nepune ive done some reserch on bacteria on our planet and that it can survive in extreme heat or extreme cool so isent it possible for bacteria to live on other planets even in our solar system like on mecury were it is really hot

i think there are too many planets and stars in the universe for us to be the only life forms in the universe

I myself find it odd that we are the only known life form in the Universe..
And if there is as some indications have it..would we wanted visited? other
then them just hovering around us...

the_dude3

It isn't possible Emptydeath. The reason being is because bacteria have other conditions that need to be met in order to survive. Like for instance...water. No lifeform can live for a long period of time without water so that's out of the question. The bacteria that you are referring to I'm pretty sure is called archaebacteria and I haven't heard anything of the sort of what you are talking about of it being on the moon or any planet for that matter.

Umm...Yeah as far as the belief in aliens goes, I suppose there could be, but no one really knows for certain nor is there any good proof that they're out there probably because whenever people mention the subject to say they believe and they've seen them, other people think that they are crazy so, you just don't really know. It's all a matter of faith I guess, not in the religious sense but just in general. Know what I mean?

Oh yeah and to dunkinmb or whatever it is, scientists just say the universe is infinite just because they don't know whether or not it has an ending. So yeah, again, you just don't know.

There is a possibility that Jupiters moon Europa has water and bacterial life.

click Here (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/03/0323_050323_jupitereuropa.html)

Of course its only speculation and until we manage to get a probe or something to Europa it will remain speculation but its exciting to those of us who are amateur astronomers and are interested in this sort of stuff :D.

Yeps..sure is interesting..makes it that way cause we here on Earth will never have any boredom from trying to find/find out the unknown..I had a telescope and I always liked SciFi Stuff as a kid..Our New Planet discovered is cool.

I am tryignt o fdisn anews report, but listen to this:
Scientists ahev long specualted (though mostly scientists liek Issac and Damon, and those writer guys . . .) That life may exist on the wodnertign comets, because they ahev all sorts of metals and that on them and soem even produce their own chemo-light.
Recently, A study of such a comet, obtained by one space vehicle or another, discovered such bacteria. Whether or not they lifved on the meteorite or came form Earth is unknown, but they are defenitly differnet from what Scienetisits have ever seen before, evn form ArchaeBacteria, and all 15 or so are all completely new species.
Exciting!

the probability of aliens is very likely, like you said huge universe probably out there somewhere there is life
