gary bettman brought hocket down to califonia, florida, texas, where it losta lot of money, giving pay-cuts to players who went on strike. Then they weere locked out, and recentlym, nu argreemenyt being reahced, the season has been cancelled. I' love the replacemnt movie night in cnada for hockey jnight in canda! CBC's ratings have actually jumpoed through the roof due to it! its fort he besrt!

Well basically, from what I was getting, there were quite a few players from various teams going on a bit of a strike until they got an increase in salary... and this continued for a bit... then a bit longer... and at last the man shut it down... for the season at least. Regardless, it mark the first time in a loooooooooooooooooooong time that there wouldn't be an NHL season here in the States.

Personally, I think it's just a bunch of rich people refusing to pay another group of rich people a lot of money.... I think professional sports, especially in America, have really lost their competiveness, and are just now driven by money. The NHL lockout is a perfect example.

No, what happened was Players did not go on strike, they were LOCKED-OUT, a HUGE difference! This means that the owners wanted to place a salary cap on the teams (something which destroys sports in my opinion), and the NHLPA (National Hockey League Players Assosciation) wanted to keep wags and caps as they were, so the Owners locked out the players. Supermario, I think that, while you may be partly correct, many times it is only one side that is to blame; the Players deserved better from their Owners.
