Does anyone know of any multiplayer games you can play online with a dial-up connection? I know this rules out any FPS games but I do like other games. Hopefully I will get Broadband soon... I'm just getting stuffed around by the phone companies at the moment.. once I get that sorted I will be able to play Half Life 2 online:)

I'm looking for something to play in the meantime...any ideas?:)

This one is not the traditional online multiplayer game, but is an interesting one if you are into politics, or have ever dreamed of building up and running your own nation. Its also perfect for dial up connections, because its just an ordinary web site and forum.

NationStates (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/74049/logout=1), is a massive game with many different aspects of play, including invading other regions, the NationStates United Nations (which I focus on), roleplaying etc. It also has a huge forum, though thats not essential to all aspects of the game, and a lot of players never post there. I have six nations on the go there at the moment in 4 different regions. That makes the game more interesting. If you want to take a look at my UN nation, just click this link .

Don't be surprised if the site is a little slow. With so many people using it, it does sometimes put a bit of a drain on the servers.

Thanks Arkacia:) ....I had a look and i've started a game but I am a bit confused about what is going on. I don't know much about politics or the government so that doesn't help. I will give it a go and see if I like it.

I have also started playing a game at tibia.com which is an online RPG. I found the site through a post by Zira at Oldgames... Thanks:) ..... looks OK but there are a few people who seem to like harassing, abusing and threatening new players but I guess you get some idiots wherever you go

Its great you've joined NationStates Mick.

If you want a quiet region to hide your nation in while you learn about the game, your more than welcome to use mine. Its not active and only has one nation in it at the moment.

If your interested, the regions name is Dragons Lair.

and if you have any questions about the game, I'm more than happy to help :).

Thanks for the suggestions:)
I played Tibia for a while which was quite good but very basic graphics then I discovered that I can play Diablo 2 on a dialup.

I might have a bit more of a look at darkthrone later, to me it looked like a very involved sort of game and I was playing D 2 at the time

I just discovered that I can even play World of Warcraft on a dialup connection. My brother has the game and we tried it on my computer with success.
Now I just have to go and buy my own copy and get an account:D

It's a very addictive game, does anyone play WoW?

not sure how well if at all this plays online, www.anarchyonline.com - problem with it is that you need to download the client to begin with and at 800mb on dial up you could be at it for a while - unless you can get hold of a cd. also the membership is free for a year or so :)

I think you should try to use Onspeed, an internet acceleration program
