Fair enough.
British Football is better.
It was invented before American Football, and it's more exciting to watch.

02-25-2005, 12:49 AM
yeah, but which flavour of British football are you talking about, rugby or soccer? :D
Just a question for the soccer fans. I'm interested to know where soccer was born?.
Is it English or from the European continent. Does anyone know?

soccer was originally played by the Chinese they would cut the heads off of their defeated enemies and people who wanted to get in the army to show how good they were at arming (quite important in those days) they would have to kick the head through a goal around 15 feet in the air. This is believed to be the first game of football!
ITFC for the prem eh? Only if we improve, must win game saturday...

Wow, Football is a great sport, soccer is cool to play but lame to watch; any sport with no physical contact is lame. Now, if you want to debate which is the manliest sport of all, then the answer is neither. Lacrosse is by far the manliest.

I think American football, euro football and rugby are all very tough. I enjoy playing soccer honestly. But I LOVE AMERICAN FOOTBALL. I can't get enough of it. I'm a Pittsburgh Steeler Fan. I love the Steelers. Any other Steeler Fans here?

Football is the greatest sport. American football is too stop- start. Football has the highest skill level because you can only use your feet(except GK). I mean try eating with your feet or anything else for that matter.
As for who invented football well who can really say. Cavemen were probably kicking dinosaur bones through tree stumps whenever they lived.
We, as in England, made the proper official rules of the game and are known as the motherland of the beautiful game. We will soon reclaim our place as the best in the world with all our young talent. Just as soon as we get a good manager.

I like games of all types..especially football
JsWoman
06-14-2005, 04:48 PM
What's wrong with American Football?? It might not be as challenging as the European versions, but it does take training and talent to play. The only part I don't like is that they get paid so freaking much to play.
yarnellcg17
06-14-2005, 04:51 PM
yeah..they do tend to be over rated and over paid..wonder where we can find a job like that the does the same thing
JsWoman
06-14-2005, 04:53 PM
We're lucky if we get paid even a quarter of what they get... We might be able to make as much money as them in our lifetime....... If we're lucky, that is.
yarnellcg17
06-14-2005, 04:57 PM
How true they do..it would take a miracle in the Lottery to even put a dent in their income..sighs as he ponders
JsWoman
06-14-2005, 05:04 PM
I should rephrase what I said before, possibly... I meant we'd be lucky to make what they make in a year in the course of our lifetime... But, oh well. One of these days one of us common working class will find a way to make money. *evil laugh*
yarnellcg17
06-14-2005, 05:07 PM
Well I thought about insider trading.. but after last year..I don't think that would be a good thing
JsWoman
06-14-2005, 05:12 PM
No, probably not. Oh, well. Guess us commoners need make our own way in life. :angel1: LOL :p Anyway, still don't see why they had to slam American football. So many people do like the game and want to be part of it. Granted most of those people live here in the US, but, oh well, just the way it is. ;)
yarnellcg17
06-14-2005, 05:18 PM
I agree we common people..will find a way in life to prosper.. I agree that football is well liked.. Even certain animals and rodents like being the field of play in the mix of it all
JsWoman
06-14-2005, 05:20 PM
Are you referring to a certain squirrel that wouldn't be caught or run off the playing field this past season??
yarnellcg17
06-14-2005, 05:22 PM
No..a certain mouse that didn't get noticed by the secondary..mouse 7 football player 0 :)

Ok..this is what I dug up on him.. He played at Maple Hts High School in Ohio..he was very good in track and field too.. earned a scholarship..and attended a prestigeous college in Tennesee.. :p

I like it too... One of my favorite sports.. But not going to ever say it's the best since my opinion is my opinion, no one else's.
yarnellcg17
06-15-2005, 02:18 PM

Throughout the year, almost.. There are a couple months in there that they don't race. I only know that because my husband doesn't like it for that amount of time.
wearing pads while playing rugby is too girly.
rugby union is the best game in the world
Arkacia
06-21-2005, 12:08 AM
Americans don't play rugby. They play American football which is also known in Australia as gridiron. The two games may look the same on the surface but are different.
JsWoman
06-21-2005, 09:00 AM
From what I've heard Rugby is much rougher than American football. Is this right? I know American football, but have never watched rugby, except in a movie, once.
yarnellcg17
06-21-2005, 09:15 AM
Yeps alot rougher then american football..have seen it before and it is brutal..it's a wonder how they keep up with injuries list..
JsWoman
06-21-2005, 09:18 AM
Do they keep an injuries list for Rugby? If it's as brutal as you say it is, you would think that every 5 minutes of play someone else would be getting hurt. If that is so than it would seem pointless to keep one. At least with American football and the padding/helmets you have a chance of getting through the game without getting your body smashed to pieces.
yarnellcg17
06-21-2005, 09:23 AM
I think that is why I see Rugby as brutal..cause of the no protection they have..compared to NFL.. I've seen some doozies..seen some good hard hits in rugby..
JsWoman
06-21-2005, 09:28 AM
I could imagine so. I can see myself enjoying a game of tackle football, whereas I can't ever see myself engaging in a game of Rugby, and that's just from what I've heard from Yarnell. :( Don't want my little body to be trampled into the ground, thank you very much.
So, what is everyone's favorite? European Football (American soccer), American football, Rugby, or something else?
yarnellcg17
06-22-2005, 09:44 PM
I think American football, euro football and rugby are all very tough. I enjoy playing soccer honestly. But I LOVE AMERICAN FOOTBALL. I can't get enough of it. I'm a Pittsburgh Steeler Fan. I love the Steelers. Any other Steeler Fans here?
I too am a die hard Steelers fan..I see HinesDaMan is as well..
I read stuff all the time on or off season..Here is a quote/slash opinion I ran across on football...
"Football incorporates the two worst elements of American society: violence punctuated by committee meetings."
George Will
Now George..Whatever do you mean by that
JsWoman
06-27-2005, 12:17 PM
Yeah, right. If you can't understand that quote, then football isn't your thing. I'm glad there is someone that understands that football, in all it's forms (American, European, and Rugby), is difficult. But, my husband and I agree on only one thing in football, and that is that we don't like the Steelers. But, that's as far as that goes. He loves the Browns, and I love the Packs and Pats.
Arkacia

You forgot the best and most important football of all JsWoman, good old Australian Rules :D.
The other codes of football (soccer is soccer by the way, not football, no matter what the Europeans try to tell us :D) are not as graceful and fluid as Aussie rules. They also seem much rougher.
If you ever get the chance to see Australian Rules played, take it. I'm sure you'll like it :).
