Whats your favorite sport?
For playing, watching or both.

My favorite is the Australian rules football, as its one of the few sports I understand and can watch on TV with the sound turned off.

I like watching the motorcross racing, downhill mountain bike riding, skateboarding, any extreme sport really. I do ride dirtbikes occasionally but dont play much sport because of injuries from years of soccer. Been skydiving a couple of times too..good fun!!!! :D :D

Well, they are sports, and certainly require a lot more out of compeditors than sycronized swimming and lawn bowls. Now they are two examples of so called sports that don't deserve the title :D.

What is called football is different all round the world. In most of Europe and South America, soccer is called football, and is not only a sport, but a religion. Call it sissy in some of those countries, and you will find yourself in serious physical danger. There was even a war started in South America over a soccer game. In Australia, football can be Australian rules or rugby, two very different games. We Aussies call the American game gridiron, not football. Just depends on where you come from.

Except for hockey... as a human I tend to find entertainment in other's pain... :o

a pity really... is it just that we typically enjoy violence as long as we aren't affected? Hmm...

Sick. Anything involving cars are not sports, they are merely hobbies. A sport involves something a little more physical than shifting gears...

Mick
04-04-2005, 06:02 AM
Sorry HinesDaMan but I disagree with you on that one. Sure some of the very short races aren't very physical but have you seen the main races. Whether it be formula 1, sprint cars, factory stock cars, etc.... the drivers have a lot of physical work to do. As well as shifting gears they have to steer and operate the pedals constantly.

At high speeds and with the finely tuned race cars it is far more demanding on a driver compared to a sunday drive. In some of the endurance races we have here in Australia, drivers have been known to lose several kilos in one race from sweating and physical exertion.

The closest experience I could recommend for you is to find a go kart track and instead of going for one 5-10min race, keep going back on for a full hour without having a break. If anyone can do this without getting tired i'll give them a medal:D

Apart from the physical side motor racing requires skill and coordination and good judgement to be successful.

I too think NASCAR and all that other crap is simply that: crap. My favorite sport is Hockey, I'm on a team at my High School. I also play Baseball and Football, but nothing can beat Hockey for me.

HinesDaMan

I totally agree, Hockey is a great sport to watch, but Lacrosse is more fun to play, strictly for the fact that you can play anytime, anywhere. Can't say that for Hockey. GO RED WINGS.

Football(soccer) and basketball, I'm not an addict but I like to watch a good match. I also like to watch handball matches, they can be very interesting, too. I've lost interest in Formula 1 couple of years ago, it was a race where 20 people are spinning around and Scumacher wins but this season is getting really interesting if you ask me.
